Who says there are no more Miracles

After dropping his younger sister at her school and making sure that she is inside the complex, next thing Umar remembers is waking up in a van driven by two strange men. His mind quickly sums up the situation and he realizes that this is a serious situation. Without giving any second thoughts he opens the backdoor and jumps out of the moving car. He runs like crazy to the opposite direction, hearing shouts of his captors. After sprinting for 2-3 minutes he sees a Police post and heads towards it. Reaching there he throws up. Feds call up his place inform his parents, call for ambulance and send him to a near by medical facility for a check up. His parents reach him, completely in shock of what has happened. They are totally clueless about why and how this happened and have no idea what action to take. They cant stop thanking God because from any angle you see this, his escape is a complete miracle.
He wasn’t tied, the door wasn’t locked, they didn’t notice him waking up, when he fell out of the car he was unhurt, when he started running they didn’t turn back and followed him and the most amazing part he found a post near by. No doubt God is merciful. No doubt he is our protector, we should always thank him and always pray for everyone’s safety.

I had a chat with him on phone, he sounded calm and normal, he was like I was inspired by Spider Man :), kids.

Ramzan

More on Phantom, yea also the set was pretty well made, loads of effort was put into it.

Ramzan is here and this time I have a feeling it will be a tough one, not only cause work is more intense plus I am becoming less and less tolerant specially to distractions during work. Since most of time I am listening music while working so that used to provide me shelter from all those disturbances and now I wont be listening to it so errr that means more test of tolerance and that’s what Ramzan is all about. So lets hope all goes well and yea am waiting so desperately for all those luvly iftaris ;)

The Phantom of the Opera

Been busy like hell. Btw went to watch The Phantom of the Opera on Sunday. It was one good of a production. I always enjoy watching live dramas/theaters and this one was another good experience(maybe I enjoy everything which is live like matches, concerts, theater and Blackfish). Shah Sharahbeel knows what is he doing and is now a very accomplished director. The rest of the staff and cast did a pretty good job too considering all were amateurs. Apart from the last Act which I thought could have been more emotional than it was, rest of the Acts were nicely done. Songs and music selection was pretty neat too. I believe that theater culture should be promoted more in this city(am not talking about those cheap dances ones) people have right for more means of getting entertainment, our beloved Sea is not enough. Anyways I really enjoyed it and it was a much needed change from the same dull routine(man I need to work on my vocabulary) Somebody willing to give tips??? Laters
And Good luck Rizvi :)

My Fellow Countrymen

(For those who are familiar with Rashid Minhas road in Karachi,Pakistan and its surrounding area, for the rest am sorry I am not good in drawing maps)

Anyways that was about Wednesday now coming to today that is Friday, although its 2 AM so technically its Saturday.
We as a Nation have this remarkable talent of converting a minor road jam into a major catastrophe.Today we proved it yet again. The new section of rashid minhas road from COD(Drig road turn) till Millennium mall or askari 4 flats is a four lane road on either side of flow. Usually around 7-8 in evening it always faces a minor road block because of increased traffic and people rushing home. Today on our way home when we were halfway on that new section there was a road block and cars were moving at a very slow pace occasionally halting for few seconds, there was no complete stoppage and we felt that it would only take 10-15 minutes before we will be out of it. But of course not all of us are as patient, now what happened some smart asses(read idiots) decided to be more creative and went on the wrong side of the road and started advancing, soon they were followed by more which included few bus drivers who were most enthusiastic. The idiots instead of just occupying one single lane of opposite side took all four lanes and the effect of this as you all must have guessed by now a complete block of road, which in Computer Science terms we call it deadlock of resources(and its fatal). As more and more cars were adding up from both sides the possibility of an early rescue seemed distant. But ironically our side of the road opened up and we soon started moving at a smooth pace. I got so frustrated looking at those idiots who had taken the wrong side and blocked the flow, I mean I wish they knew what the hell(read f---) they were upto. When we crossed the roundabout I could see cars coming from NIPA, gulistan-e-jauher and other routes all directed to that roadblock and I knew it then that it will be a major issue because at that time flow of traffic is quite rapid. Exactly that happened, in no time road till Lasania restaurant was blocked(that’s a block of 1 km from origin) and when after 20 minutes I left for Tariq road with my mom the jam had come to our side of the road which is 1 km inside the main road. After trying a short cut we reached to Aladin park and there was huge rush of vehicles (that’s 6 km from the origin) soon NIPA bridge got jammed and I was wondering how the hell it will ever end. I never got to know that because by the time that is around 11 pm, when we were returning back it was all good Thanks God. My whole point in writing it is that we are so stupid(ok not all of us) and impatient persons that we cant wait for 10 minutes and when we try to be extra cool and end up waiting for hours and causing grief to hundreds of others. I felt so sorry for the ones who had taken that route and found themselves at deadend. There was no one to warn them, to divert them to different routes. There might be many who must have been in a hurry and God knows what became of them. I just feel so helpless (perhaps I could do something, perhaps I can only write and not do anything practical) and I seriously feel like whipping them all who took the wrong side and caused all this. You all should be spanked until you forget how to drive!!!! Last but not least it’s the job of Traffic Constables to make sure that the damage is minimized but it seems they are extremely efficient in not being at places where they are wanted most. Ok my hand hurts now

Match Day

All of those who watch cricket on TV and never been to a stadium, trust me you are missing on truly a wonderful experience. For those who don’t watch cricket watching match in stadium is like going to your favorite band’s concert. Hysteria at its peak, atmosphere electrifying, anticipation of something to happen and above all synchronized drumming and singing. Wednesday’s match wasn’t any different infect it was lot better in a sense that we won yea Pakistani team is known not to do well at Karachi in recent times so many were expecting another defeat. But from the start Pakistan had a grip on the match which grew tighter as the game progressed. It was a complete professional performance I just hope we become more consistent, but I wonder are we consistent as a nation if not then why we are asking our team to be.
Anyways coming back to the match environment, when your team bowls there is always less to cheer about because the only time you truly get excited is when a wicket falls or some good fielding is done, rest of the time its just an anticipation. Plus the first innings of the match always go relatively quiet because there is no fixed target towards the result. Since I went alone( I mean no family members this time, usually we 4-5 cousins, my mom and aunt are the ones who visit) so it took time to get along with people. When Pakistan’s innings started things started to blow up, each boundary or a good shot was greeted with loud shouts and vigorous drumming of chairs. As the innings progressed and Pakistan’s victory looked like a possibility of a dream coming true, drumming was getting stronger and more synchronized. There was a span of 30-40 minutes when the whole stand was drumming a single tune and the rest were dancing with the beat. It was just an unbelievable atmosphere, so much energy so much life. Karachites do need more entertainment events. The way they behaved and enjoyed themselves answers lots of concerns. I believe on TV they had somehow lowered the noise we were making, when Youhana reached his 100 ground just exploded. And the best part haha whenever poor Inzi was in action whole crowd was shouting “Aalo Aalo” poor fella he must be so irritated with Karachi crowd. But I know its their love and by no means they want to humiliate him, the innings he played last time here against the Indians is still fresh in our minds and we hoped so much of Pakistan winning that match. I so much wished I had a digi cam with me, I guess there will come a time for that too. untill then adios

Laughters, Voices of loved ones
Echoing from across the room
I kept sitting in a corner
In a locked room
Feeling betrayed
Feeling abandoned
Never wanting to make an appearance
Never wanting to acknowledge
As the voices grew stronger
So the struggle inside me
But I stayed there, refusing the calls
Hours gone, now I feel anguish
I feel rage
Hurt and broken

Disclaimer: It was not an attempt on a poetry, otherwise it would have been a brutal murder of English Literature.

Rain or Storm

It was an awesome weather today, constant rain with chill breeze, awesome for us but am not sure how cruel for the ones who live in jhoprees (shacks). They must have had tough time.
Since it was Saturday so I was yearning for a break and luckily got off from office early ok not luckily but thanks to KESC that there was no electricity all day and office’s generator hadn’t had enough capacity to run for all day. So anyways for some stupid reasons could not avail this opportunity and had to stay home, went to sleep and woke up quite in a messy mood. Wasn’t in best of moods at all, after dinner it started raining again and I couldn’t resist anymore, went for walk, got to indulge (millennium mall one, that was fifteen minutes walk) had coffee and ala mode and walked back home again. Having a walk in rain is a rare activity for Karachites and always been my favorite. It brings back memories of good old days. I just wish we have some of it more minus all the trouble (but then it wont be Karachi). Oh yea when I was going to mall, this guard on some construction site was playing beautiful flute tune it just felt too good. Flute if played well does wonder to ears and you just feel like listening to it for hours and when combined with rain, don’t ask me how its felt.

Crackers

And with so many crackers exploding around I feel like I am in WW2 with German artillery firing at will. Gosh when this nation will learn to respect human values.
